HSbooster.eu's workshop at MIE2024 for the European Health Data Space

HSbooster.eu will be making a significant impact at the upcoming MIE2024 conference "Digital Health and Informatics Innovations for Sustainable Health Care Systems.” This prestigious event, which gathers global leaders in biomedical and health informatics, will feature keynote speeches, oral presentations, e-poster sessions, and more, all aimed at advancing sustainable healthcare through digital innovation.

HSbooster.eu moderates Workshop on Real-World Data Interoperability and AI

One of the standout sessions of the conference will be the workshop How Can Real-World Data Interoperability and AI Help to Realize the EHDS Aims? This workshop, moderated by HSbooster.eu's Maria Giuffrida, promises to delve deep into the challenges and opportunities presented by the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The session will particularly focus on how Real-World Data (RWD) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can drive the EHDS's goals of improving healthcare services and advancing research and innovation.

Highlighting Success Stories: IDERHA and iHELP Projects

A key feature of this workshop will be the presentation of the iHELP and IDERHA projects, which have made significant strides thanks to the support and synergies facilitated by HSbooster.eu. These projects are at the forefront of leveraging AI and RWD to create a pan-European health data space, which is critical for achieving the EHDS’s ambitious objectives.

Maria Giuffrida will introduce HSbooster.eu's initiative, outlining its role in fostering collaboration and standardisation within the healthcare sector, and will moderate the discussion animated by the following speakers:

  • Christian Muehlendyck will explore the opportunities and challenges in developing IDERHA’s health data space, focusing on using RWD to generate Real-World Evidence (RWE) for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) acceptance, with a specific look at AI-driven lung cancer use cases.
  • Philip Gribbon will discuss the importance of data FAIRness and how IDERHA is integrating data governance frameworks to ensure compliance with EHDS requirements, focusing on synchronizing Data Management Plans with Data Protection Impact Assessments and Data Sharing Agreements.
  • George Manias will present iHELP’s innovative approach to personalized health monitoring and decision support systems, emphasizing the integration of AI models for personalized recommendations in pancreatic cancer care.
  • Gabriel-Mihail Danciu will highlight the integration and management of heterogeneous health data through Holistic Health Records (HHRs), showcasing how these can provide valuable insights for the healthcare community.
  • Rada Hussein will outline the necessary steps to align IDERHA with the EHDS’s requirements, covering data governance, interoperability, and the creation of a roadmap for cancer digital health alignment with EHDS.

Discussion at MIE2024

MIE2024 is a must-attend for anyone interested in the future of digital health in Europe. It provides a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts and explore how AI and real-world data can change the European health landscape. During the event, IDERHA's Philip Gribbon showcased how IDERHA is creating a synergy with European Health Data Space projects (e.g., EUCAIM, ASCAPE, iHELP, Bigpicture, and HealthData@EU pilot project) via health standards usage thanks to the HSbooster.eu support services. They compare health-standardised models/ontologies/terminologies such as HL7 FHIR, DICOM, OMOP, ISO TC 215 Health Informatics, W3C DCAT, etc. used in those projects.
