Consultancy Service
As a consultant, you'll provide invaluable insights on various standardisation-related aspects of research projects. Your role is to support projects, ensuring they can effectively engage with standardisation processes and achieve tangible results.
Types of Consultancy Offered
The types of consultancy you could be asked to provide include, as an example:
- Standardisation Mapping: Identify and assess standards relevant to the project.
- Suggestions on Deliverables or Strategy: Offer recommendations for future standardisation activities.
- Understanding Standardisation: Explain the intricacies of standardisation, including development and adoption.
- Training Materials: Provide resources related to standardisation processes, including those available in the HSbooster.eu Training Academy
- Engaging with SDOs or TCs/WGs: Guide projects on interacting with relevant standardisation bodies.
- Facilitating Access: Help projects access standards and committees, with HSbooster.eu potentially covering certain fees.Indeed HSbooster.eu can reimburse the fees for a maximum of 3 selected standards. Once the coordinator or another beneficiary of a project that has applied to HSbooster.eu purchases the standard via their national standard body, the project representative can ask HSbooster.eu for reimbursement. Similarly, if the project is interested in accessing Technical Committees (TCs), Subcommittees (SCs), and Working Groups (WGs), HSbooster.eu offers reimbursement for the fee of one person per R&I project to gain access to a national mirror committee. This access enables participation in the work at TC, SC, and WG levels for a period of one year. Please note that we do not however provide funding for the hours that the R&I project invests in their participation.
- Deep Dive Workshops: Organise a series of approximately three events focussed on presenting and discussing standardisation topics within a specific field. These workshops are tailored for a cluster of projects operating in the selected area, offering an in-depth exploration and dialogue platform to enhance understanding and collaboration on standardisation efforts.
- Support to CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA): This service provides technical support for the preparation of meetings and documents necessary for a CEN Workshop Agreement in a field of your expertise. It also includes support for disseminating the CWA across relevant networks, ensuring broad awareness and adoption of the CWA under development.
1 It is important to emphasise that these reimbursement options are specifically applicable to projects that do not have allocated budgets or have already consumed their budget for purchasing standards or joining TCs. We are dedicated to supporting projects in maximising their engagement with standardisation activities and ensuring their seamless access to the necessary resources.
2 Note that HSbooster also offers direct financial support to cover CWA fees, a significant benefit that experts can highlight to any project inquiring about this service.
Your Role and Commitment
The consultancy is designed to be efficient and targeted, with services structured to maximise impact within a concise timeframe. Here's an overview of the timing for each service:
- Standard Consultancy Service: This requires 2 full working days spread over 3 months, including up to 4 calls with the project. This approach ensures focussed support and guidance. If a project requires a longer timeframe, custom arrangements can be negotiated. Longer durations may be agreed upon based on specific needs, maintaining an equivalent effort of 2 days per service. Each service entails up to 4 calls of approximately 1 hour each, facilitating direct interaction between the project and the expert.
- Deep Dive Workshops: The allocated effort is on average 7 working days for the series of events, spread over a few months. This allows for comprehensive coverage of standardisation topics within a specific field and facilitates in-depth discussions and networking among participants.
- Support to CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA): This service is also estimated at an average of 7 working days, including the preparation and dissemination phases, spread over a few months. This timeline accommodates the detailed work required in preparing meetings, documents, and the broad dissemination of the CWA across relevant networks.
Possibility to request additional services
It's important to note that the HSbooster Consultancy Service is modular, allowing projects to apply for up to 3 standard consultancy services (six equivalent working days) with the same or different experts. Customised requests can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Each service will have the same structure in terms of meetings, duration and effort as detailed in the previous section. Similarly, given that Deep Dive Workshops and CWA support are new services, we are open to different time estimates from the experts based on their experience and the specific requirements of each project. This flexibility ensures that our services are tailored to the needs of each project, providing effective and customised support.
Output and Confidentiality
At the end of your consultancy, you'll compile a summary report detailing meetings, activities, and recommendations. It is recommended that you start working on the report as soon as the service starts and that you keep the platform updated with all the dates of meetings planned or held and with all relevant information. While the final activity report is confidential, it may be accessed by select HSbooster team members, EC representatives and the External Advisory Group members for quality check reasons. These individuals will not disseminate the report.
