We had a great time playing the "Serious Smiling" game, which provided applied training on working within a Technical Committee (TC) or Working Group (WG), argumentation skills, understanding standardisation context, and strategic positioning.

Description
The Serious Smiling Game is a role-playing game that simulates the discussion in an ad hoc working group within the imaginary organisation for standardisation. This game aims to develop soft skills needed in standardisation processes, focusing on argumentation skills, strategic positioning, building compromise and common understanding. This serious game is developed by HSbooster.eu and House of Knowledge. It can be played onsite and online.
The Serious Smiling Game online version is played in teams of five members each. Each team has its own facilitator, trained to support the players when necessary. Twenty players can participate in one term. You play as a team against each other but also as a team against the game.
The game starts when an imaginary organisation for standardisation receives the proposal for a new work item from Zoltan Mancini, who represents the AGD intending to solve a specific problem on the market. The imaginary organisation for standardisation got a surprisingly good response to the invitation sent to their member organisations. Zoltan, Sun, Camelia, James and Tabitha are about to start the meeting of the ad hoc working group. However, they all wear many different hats.
Who should attend?
The training session is intended for the researchers who participate in EU-funded R&I projects and anyone interested in the basics of standardisation who would like to improve their skills needed for standardisation.
