Project Name: Cyber securitY tooLbox for COnnected MEdical Devices
Description
The CYLCOMED project focuses on enhancing the cybersecurity of connected medical devices (CMDs), in vitro diagnostic devices (IVDs), and software as a medical device (SaMD), ensuring their safe and secure operation in healthcare settings. CYLCOMED addresses critical cybersecurity challenges associated with the increasing use of advanced technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and 5G networks in medical devices. By providing robust cybersecurity methodologies and toolboxes, CYLCOMED helps safeguard patient data, maintain device integrity, and ensure continuous healthcare service delivery.
CYLCOMED aims to make contributions to the standardisation of cybersecurity in the healthcare and medical devices sector. The project’s standardisation objectives include:
Developing and promoting fit-for-purpose cybersecurity guidelines and risk assessment frameworks tailored to CMDs and healthcare settings.
Contributing to the evolution of international and European standards for medical device cybersecurity, aligning with regulatory frameworks such as the MDR, GDPR, and NIS2 Directive.
• Engaging with standardisation bodies to ensure that CYLCOMED’s outcomes are integrated into the broader regulatory and technical landscape, ensuring interoperability and security across the healthcare ecosystem.
