Short bio
Martin has over 30 years experience in ICT standardisation and technology, having spent the previous 19 years at Oracle Ireland. Before that, Martin worked for a number of Irish start-ups after several years at BT in the UK.
With his technical background in distributed computing, Martin has participated in many standards activities and codes of conduct in the areas of interoperability, portability, cloud, IoT, cybersecurity and accessibility, and serves on standards Board of Directors and advisory committees.
Martin applies this expertise to the interplay between technology, legislation, standards and compliance and had contributed to many DIGITALEUROPE policy papers while at Oracle. He has been a member of ENISA’s Stakeholder Cybersecurity Certification Group and the EU Commission’s Multi-stakeholder platform for ICT Standardisation.
Martin holds a Ph.D. in Distributed Computing from Oxford Brookes University and Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, UK, and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Data Processing from Loughborough University, UK.
