HSbooster2 to join EU Knowledge Valorisation Talk on standards and market uptake

On Tuesday 29 September 2026, the European Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation will host the latest instalment of its EU Knowledge Valorisation Talks, streamed live from its Brussels studio between 13:00 and 13:45 CEST on the EU Knowledge Valorisation Platform and YouTube. The live viewers will be able to ask questions to the panel. Titled "Setting the standard: accelerating market uptake", the session brings together standardisation and innovation specialists to discuss the part standards play in helping research results reach the market.

Among the panellists is Knut Blind, coordinator of the Business Unit Innovation and Regulation at Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) and a partner in HSbooster2, alongside Touradj Ebrahimi, professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL).

Standardisation rarely draws attention to itself, yet it underpins much of what makes research results usable at scale — from interoperable data formats to the safety requirements behind new materials and connected devices. The Talk sets out to examine this relationship in both directions: how solid research findings feed into new standardisation work, and how established standards, in turn, help those findings move towards adoption by industry and society.

For the knowledge valorisation community, this is a live and evolving question, not least because the discussion will draw on findings from the European Standardisation Panel Survey (ESPS), giving the panel an evidence base rather than relying solely on individual experience.
