WILLOW

Project Name: WHOLISTIC AND INTEGRATED DIGITAL TOOLS FOR EXTENDED LIFETIME AND PROFITABILITY OF OFFSHORE WIND FARMS<br />

Description

WILLOW aims to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Development of a global structural health monitoring (SHM) based on loads, accelerations, images, and thickness losses, considering fatigue progression, pitting corrosion and coating degradation by using physical and virtual sensors combined with Machine Learning (ML) techniques.
  2. Development of prognosis tools by combining SCADA and SHM data, using physical models and ML methods to predict the consumed lifetime and the remaining useful life.
  3. Development of a decision-making support tool for smart power dispatch in curtailed conditions and O&M scheduling.

Regarding standardisation, WILLOW aims to contribute in providing standardisation guidance within the four identified research lines:

  • Design load case definitions
  • Data-driven lifetime assessment methodologies
  • Corrosion protection (continuous monitoring of corrosion and coating)
  • Defect and damage categorisation of WTs

Embracing standardised approaches related to WILLOW outcomes can help the offshore wind value chain and accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable energy future.

Reason for applying to HSbooster.eu services

The project is applying for the Standardisation Booster service to get support in its standardisation strategy. Some kind of help from experts to reach the relevant standardisation bodies and convince the key Committees that some changes are needed to cover the current gaps.
