UNTWIST

Project Name: Uncover and promote tolerance to temperature and water stress in Camelina sativa<br />

Description

Camelina sativa is a flowering plant native to Europe and Central Asia. What is more, it is an oilseed crop that has retained its natural stress tolerance and receives attention because of its untapped breeding potential, adaptability, yield stability and high performance in variable environments. The EU-funded UNTWIST project aims to unravel the stress response mechanisms of the climate-resilient Camelina crop and reveal its successful stress adaptation strategies with the aim of implementing them in new agronomic solutions, delivering new tools and markers for effective translation into other crops. Most importantly, the project will meet the climate challenge in agriculture, promoting practices that can be adopted by farmers and used in new climate-resistant cropping systems.
