Project Name: Sustainability Transition Assessment Rules for Bio-Based Systems<br />
Description
STAR4BBS is a three-year multidisciplinary and multi-actor project with the overall aim to maximise the potential of Sustainability Certification Schemes (SCS) and labels to support a successful transition to sustainable bio-based economy. It entails the development of indicators and a monitoring system for assessing the effectiveness and robustness of existing international and EU SCS, B2B labels and related traceability systems applicable to biological feedstock and bio-based materials and products. This will create the foundations to support achieving the needed harmonisation between schemes and transparency in global and EU trade flows
During the project implementation, the process of establishing a fast track standard (e.g. UNI/PdR, CEN Workshop Agreement) around the final concept of the monitoring system, will be started by TUB, in collaboration with the NEN and UNI (both associated partners) and with the support of the other partners. The standardisation related activities will provide the opportunities to present and discuss different aspects of the monitoring system with a wider range of experts. In particular, one aspect to be discussed is the sustainability of the system beyond the project.
The project will also organise training webinars for disseminating the STAR4BBS monitoirng schemes to companies. This will be done will the support of UNI (for the Italian industry), but it should be extended to other European countries as well.
Reason for applying to HSbooster.eu services
They believe that the booster could support the project partners in the organisation of the work for starting the process of establishing a fast-track standard around the concept of the monitoring system. In particular, the project needs support in terms of experts inputs and finding more support from different national standardisation bodies and also, if possible, CEN.
They believe that the HS Booster could also support us in implementing the trainings in other european countries, with a collaboration with UNI.
