openZDM

Project Name: Open platform for realizing Zero defects in cyber physical manufacturing

Description

The openZDM project aims to develop a digital platform that builds on the state-of-the-art RAMI 4.0 and Asset Administration Shell (AAS) to implement intra-factory quality management practices, applicable to these different production environments. In addition several non-destructive inspection (NDI) methods and data-driven quality assessment techniques are considered for online defect identification and quality assessment, distributed at various stages along the manufacturing line. The project is an Innovation Action that will develop and demonstrate in 5 representative production lines an open platform designed to realize ZDM. The platform integrates advanced ICT solutions & innovative non-destructive testing, setting the foundations for an innovative solution applicable to a large variety of manufacturing industries.

As the project is based on the RAMI 4.0 standard and uses the Asset Administration Shell, the proposed standardisation objectives are aimed at collaborating with SDOs related to Industry 4.0, e.g. IDTA or GAIA-X.

Reason for applying to HSbooster.eu services

Initially the idea was to collaborate with IDTA (Industrial Digital Twin Association) and based on the experience gained in the project, propose to standardise Asset Administration Shell (AAS) sub-models. However, the proposal made was very specific and the idea of standardising AAS sub-models should be more generic. They are currently participating in a CEN/CENELEC working group for the standardisation of concepts related to Zero Defect Manufacturing. They also made a proposal for the standardisation of properties related to Machine Vision Systems to ECLASS, which will help the interoperability of these systems. However, the project objectives encompass participation with 4 SDOs and they require help to identify which other standardisation groups they can work on.
