OASEES

Project Name: Open Autonomous programmable cloud appS & smart EdgE Sensors

Description

OASEES aims to create an open, decentralised, intelligent, programmable edge framework for Swarm

architectures and applications, leveraging the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) paradigm and integrating

Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) processes for efficient decision making. The OASEES vision is to provide the open tools

and secure environments for swarm programming and orchestration for numerous fields, in a completely decentralised

manner. An important aspect in this process is identification and identity management, in which OASEES targets

the implementation of a portable and privacy preserving ID federation system, for edge devices and services, with

full compliance and compatibility to GAIA-X federation and IDSA trust directives and specifications. This situation

solidifies the need for an integrated enabler framework tailored to the edge’s extreme data processing demands, using

different edge accelerators, i.e. GPU, NPU, SNN and Quantum.

Standardisation and Empowering European Data Sovereignty

This task will thoroughly investigate the current legislation and standardisation landscape, to explore the possible

potential for standardisation activities, based on the OASEES outcomes. Based on relevant existing and upcoming

standards, a robust standardisation strategy for OASEES results and the harmonisation of use of digital sovereign

identity will be defined. Following that, in close liaison with relevant projects, such as Examode, REACT, VesselAI,

etc., the project will contribute to ongoing standardisation activities or will prepare future standard developments on AI

trustworthiness and explainability for complex ML models. Finally, this task will combine fit-for-purpose legislation

and governance to ensure availability of data within the project’s context, with investments in standards, tools, and

infrastructures, as well as competences for handling data. This favourable context, promoting incentives and choice,

will lead to more data being stored and processed in the EU.

Reason for applying to HSbooster.eu services

The project needs support to identify the application of standard and shared compatible formats and protocols for gathering and processing data from different sources in a coherent and interoperable manner across sectors and vertical markets should be encouraged through the rolling plan for ICT standardisation and (as regards public services) a strengthened European Interoperability Framework.

The project has several potential outcomes that could contribute to standards, however, there is a lack of guidance to identify the proper standardisation bodies as well as the procedure to contribute.
