EO4EU

Project Name: AI-augmented ecosystem for Earth Observation data accessibility with Extended reality User Interfaces for Service and data exploitation

Description

The project EO4EU is a European Commission funded innovation project bringing forward the EO4EU Platform which will make access and use of EO data easier for environmental, government, business forecasts and operations.

The EO4EU Platform, which will be available at www.eo4eu.eu, will connect already existing major EO data sources such as DestinE, GEOSS, INSPIRE, Copernicus, Galileo, among others and offer several tools and services to help users find and access the data they are interested in, as well as to analyse and visualise this data.

The platform will leverage machine learning to support handling of the characteristically-large volume of EO data as well as a combination of Cloud computing infrastructure and pre-exascale high-performance computing to manage processing workloads.

In regards to standardisation, the objective is to contribute with at least 3 standards with International SDOs and set up 3 new working groups within SDOs.

Reason for applying to HSbooster.eu services

The project will leverage AI, machine learning, data analytics visualisation and virtual reality to guarantee a robust and accurate representation of EO data. In addition, the capabilities of the platform will be tested in seven use cases related to personal healthcare, civil protection, ocean monitoring, food security, soil erosion, forest ecosystems, and environmental pests.

Considering the significant EO4EU’s innovation potential, the goal is to contribute to new standards in the Earth observation domain and its usage in the related use cases.

Therefore, the EO4EU consortium decided to apply for HSBooster’s support to obtain a deep understanding of how the project can contribute to the standardisation process in SDOs, what are the existing standards in the field and how to find relevant Technical Committees.
