CSI-COP

Project Name: Citizen Scientists Investigating Cookies and App GDPR compliance

Description

CSI-COP has engaged members of the public as citizen scientists to co-investigate GDPR compliance in websites and in apps. The investigations have been specifically focused on transparency in cookie banners/cookie notices and privacy policies with respect to informed consent about any third-party tracking, and purpose limitation to extract any personal data from website visitors and app users.

The legacy of CSI-COP project is to promote ethical data use beginning with recommending that EU funded projects should host standard cookie banners/cookie notices and privacy policies. In this way the EU can encourage their funded projects are fully complying with the GDPR. The implementation of standardised cookie banners/cookie notices and privacy policies on EU project websites would increase trust between users and owners of websites and apps and demonstrate that people's online privacy and data protection are taken seriously.

Reason for applying to HSbooster.eu services

The CSI-COP project's team members and engaged citizen scientists have uncovered that there is not a standard cookie banner or cookie notice, or privacy policy on websites and in apps investigated. Even EU funded projects do not have a standard for cookie banners and cookie notices, or privacy policy. Access to standardised booster services will assist the CSI-COP project in proposing feasible standardised text for cookie notices and privacy policies in websites and in apps. In this way the CSI-COP will be assisting the EU in implementing the GDPR more realistically and clearly in websites and apps.
