Standardisation is a multifaceted area of knowledge with both practical applications and growing academic significance. Incorporating serious games into standardisation training programmes is something which can innovate the capacity-building efforts in this area.
The Serious Smiley Game is a role-play and simulation game designed to develop soft skills crucial in standardisation processes. Emphasising argumentation, common understanding and strategic positioning. It is a facilitated game based on careful instructions to provoke communication among the game participants, deepening their grasp of the path to consensus, which is the first and primary step for achieving a common agreement. The Serious Smiley Game is publicly available and can be played at professional training or university classes.
Originally developed in 2015 by Professor Ivana Mijatovic, the first iteration of this game has become a cornerstone in the standardisation course of bachelor studies at the Faculty of Organisational Sciences, University of Belgrade. At the HSbooster.eu Training Academy, this game underwent enhancements and rigorous testing across various platforms. The results have been consistently positive, bolstered by invaluable input from Magnus Hakvag, CEO of the House of Knowledge, whose advice and suggestions have significantly enriched the game's evolution.
