SAFELiMOVE

Project Name: advanced all Solid stAte saFE LIthium Metal technology tOwards Vehicle Electrification

Description

SAFELiMOVE aims at developing a new, safer, cost-effective (< 100 € /kWh from a high volume production perspective towards 2030), long cycle life and room temperature operating all-solid-state battery technology to increase the energy density (450 Wh/kg and 1200 Wh/L), safety and affordability of EVs, to meet the requirements of driving autonomy, cycle life, charge time and power at discharge required by EV users. Thus, contributing to the decarbonisation of transport.

Reason for applying to HSbooster.eu services

Following the identification within the framework of the project of the difference between the criteria specified in the standards and the characteristics of new all-solid-state battery technologies. We would like to know how to communicate these results and lead to the evolution of the standards.

Main Standardisation Interests

Development of new battery designs may require revision of testing procedures for next generation automotive regulations. In SAFELiMOVE project, CEA will make a critical analysis of existing standards for automotive applications focused on battery safety. The goal is to identify the actual limits of tests defined in UN38.3 (Recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods - Lithium metal and lithium ion batteries) and IEC 62660-2 (Secondary lithium-ion cells for the propulsion of electric road vehicles - Part 2: Reliability and abuse testing) considering new solid-state batteries specifications.
